What is an intelligent camera
Apart from the normal image generation technology, intelligent cameras incorporate all hardware to process the images generated and communicate the results to the outside world. Intelligent cameras aim to be self supporting on terms of image evaluation and decision making. Therefore intelligent cameras can be used for tasks like Machine Vision, Intelligent Security, Traffic control or Building Automation.
Founded in 1998 Vision Components GmbH now is in terms of Global sales one of the major suppliers for intelligent cameras. Apart from a high quality CCD image sensor and a powerful Texas Instruments DSP processor, Vision Components cameras incorporate a frame grabber, serial and/or Ethernet interfaces, a high-speed trigger or encoder input and several PLC I/Os. Additional options like SVGA video output or SD memory cards, enhance the functionality of the broad range of intelligent cameras. All Vision Components cameras are built for industrial applications. They are insensitive to shock and vibration, and have multiple I/O lines for direct control of external equipment. For more complex control tasks, they can easily be interfaced to a PLC or external computer.
